Police are searching for two men who robbed a corrections officer at gunpoint in Philadelphia.

It happened shortly before 2 a.m. on the 6400 block of Cranford Street as the 30-year-old officer was exiting his car. Police say one of the men punched the officer in the face and a struggle ensued. The other suspect then hit the officer in the head with a small black-colored handgun, according to investigators.

The men stole the officer’s cell phone and wallet, which contained credit cards. As the suspects ran away, one of the men fired a gun hitting the officer’s car, shattering a window.

The officer managed to drive to the 1300 block of Hellerman Street in Oxford Circle where he called police.

Police are investigating the incident.
