A spring storm delivered a wintry mix of rain and snow across our area this morning causing slippery roads and traffic nightmares for drivers.
A driver was seriously injured after he was trapped inside an overturned tractor trailer on I-295 near exit 34A around 9:26 a.m. Investigators say the driver was traveling in the northbound lane, lost control of the truck, and ended up in the southbound lane. The victim was taken to Cooper Medical Center. Debris from the accident hit another vehicle. No word on the driver’s condition. No other injuries have been reported at this time.

The large system is expected to last throughout the day. An accumulation of 1 to 3 inches of snow is expected in the Philadelphia area. An accumulation of 2 to 4 inches of snow is expected in much of Delaware and South Jersey. An accumulation of 1inch or less of snow is expected along the coast.
“During the day that’s when we are mostly going to see the accumulation take place and there will be accumulation mainly on grassy surfaces,” said NBC10 meteorologist Bill Henley. “It’s a large system and it’s going to produce snowfall for most of the day today along with some gusty winds.”
At the Shore, rain moved in from the South overnight. As a result, minor coastal flooding will be possible Monday evening between 7p.m. – 8 p.m. at areas of high tide with winds gusting up to 45 miles per hour.
Light rain worked its way into the area Sunday evening even changing to snow in some areas. Light snowfall was first reported in Georgetown, Delaware and Cape May, NJ. Meanwhile rain is falling in most of the region and will lead to wet roads during the morning commute in the Philadelphia area.
Snow Timeline:
Right now – 3 p.m. Wintry mix of snow and rain continues, leading to wet roads
3 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wintry mix of snow and rain, breaks in precipitation are possible
After 8 p.m. Gusty winds continue, but snow and rain will be tapering
