A local college student is recovering after police say he was stabbed several times during a fight.
Police say a 22-year-old University of Delaware student was arguing with another man Sunday around 1 a.m. in a parking lot on 54 East Delaware Avenue in Newark, Delaware. The argument eventually escalated into a fight, according to investigators. During the fight, police say the suspect stabbed the college student several times in the chest and abdomen before fleeing the scene.
The student was taken to Christiana Hospital by private vehicle and underwent surgery. Police say he is currently in stable condition.
The suspect is described as an 18 to 22 year old man standing between 5-foot-11 and 6-feet, weighing 185 to 190 pounds. Police also say he was wearing a white t-shirt and a black hat.
