Police are searching for a man caught on surveillance video stealing from Girl Scouts who were raising money for troops overseas.
It happened Sunday around 5 p.m. at the Pathmark on 450 West Swedesford Road in Berwyn, Pa. Police say two girl scouts between the ages of 8 and 9 and their mothers were at a table inside the grocery store when the theft took place. A man wearing glasses and a scarf covering his face approached the table and reached into a jar of donation money, according to investigators. The man then allegedly reached into the cash box but one of the scouts closed it. Police say he then fled the scene.
“I’m not that surprised,” said Brad Lamson-Scribner of Devon. “Stuff happens everywhere. People think the area is really nice and nothing bad happens but it does. It’s terrible.”
“It’s like you can’t get involved in anything anymore because now it’s like everything is tainted,” said Julie Vanderslice of Devon.
Police say they’re unsure of how much money the man got away with. If you have any information on this incident, please call Tredyffrin Township Police at 610 644-3221.
