She may be a mean one, but unlike Dr. Seuss’ famous character, police say the Holiday Grinch they’re currently looking for targeted a family in Bucks County rather than Whoville.
NBC10 received a viewer email from Michelle, who says someone stole a Christmas package right from the doorsteps of her home in Feasterville. Michelle told NBC10 it happened Monday, a few days after she ordered $500 Prada sneakers from Neiman Marcus for her husband.
“I was expecting two pairs of Prada sneakers for my husband and I was expecting them yesterday from UPS,” said Michelle.
Sure enough, a UPS truck pulled up in front of Michelle’s home around 1 p.m. A home surveillance camera rolled as the driver knocked on the door and left the package on the steps before making his next delivery.
About 20 minutes later, surveillance cameras captured a dark-colored Dodge Durango backing into Michelle’s driveway. A woman with blond hair got out of the vehicle, walked up the door, took the sneakers and headed back inside the Durango before fleeing the scene.
"It seems like they were following the UPS truck," said Michelle. "Because they knew exactly where to go."
Michelle tells NBC10 she witnessed the theft but couldn’t get to the woman before she took off. Michelle then told her husband about what she saw.
“He thought I was playing a joke on him and I wasn’t,” said Michelle. “So he decided to check the surveillance cameras and that’s where we saw the Grinch!”
Michelle filed a police report with the Lower Southampton Police Department who are investigating the incident. This isn’t the only recent package theft in the area to be caught on home surveillance video. Over the weekend, a young boy was captured on camera stealing a package from a home in Bethlehem.
While Michelle says Neiman Marcus will refund the purchase, she still wants the woman responsible for the theft to be brought to justice.
“I just can’t believe that people do this all the time,” said Michelle. “They probably did my whole neighborhood! I just want them to get caught!”
